What Our Warranty Covers
This limited warranty covers cabinetry purchased directly from TODO Cabinetry Store and installed in residential environments. It protects against manufacturer defects in:
• Doors & Drawer Fronts – Cracking, warping, or splitting due to defective materials or workmanship
• Cabinet Frames & Boxes – Delamination or structural failure under normal household use
• Paints & Finishes – Peeling, excessive fading, or blistering not caused by harsh exposure or misuse
• Hardware Components – Malfunctioning hinges, glides, or soft-close mechanisms
Warranty Terms & Duration
This limited warranty is valid for five (5) years from the date of purchase for the original owner. It applies only to residential use and is non-transferable. Any cabinetry installed in commercial, industrial, or outdoor settings is excluded from this coverage.
Natural Wood Behavior & Environmental Considerations
Climate and Humidity Impact
Wood is a living material—even after it’s been cut and finished. It reacts to its environment, and that natural movement is not considered a defect.
• Humidity Changes: In dry conditions, wood can shrink slightly. In humid climates, it may expand. This typically affects width more than height. Your cabinets are designed with adjustable hinges and tolerances to accommodate these natural shifts.
• Non-Climate-Controlled Installations: Installing cabinets in spaces without HVAC or with extreme humidity (like coastal or tropical areas) may result in minor dimensional movement.
• Direct Sunlight: Prolonged exposure to direct sunlight may lead to finish fading. This natural effect is not covered under warranty.
Understanding Warped Doors
Doors may appear warped shortly after installation due to the change from our climate-controlled manufacturing environment to your home’s natural climate. Most of these effects normalize after the home completes a full heating and cooling cycle.
Common Causes:
1. Environmental Adjustment – Newly installed doors may shift slightly. Wait one full seasonal cycle before making replacements.
2. Installation Issues – Improper cabinet mounting may create the appearance of door warping.
3. Hinge Misalignment – In many cases, adjusting the hinges resolves visual alignment issues.
How to Check for Warping:
Place the door on a flat surface and measure the gap between the surface and the door:
• Up to 12” – maximum allowable warp: 1/16”
• 13” to 24” – max: 1/8”
• 25” to 41” – max: 3/16”
Doors falling within these tolerances are not considered defective.
Wood Species Characteristics
Each wood species has its own character and natural markings. These are part of what make real wood cabinetry unique—not flaws or defects.
Maple
Light, creamy wood with subtle grain and mineral streaks. May show bird’s-eye, curly, or wavy patterns that darken when stained. Yellowing over time is natural with lighter stains.
Straight Grain Oak
A more refined cut of red oak with linear grain and occasional rays or flecks. Color ranges from tan to deep red-brown. Visible grain patterns and color variation are expected.
Cherry
Warm reddish-brown wood that darkens gracefully with age. May include sap pockets, pin knots, or streaks. Each door develops richer tones over time—this evolution is not a defect, but a signature of natural cherry wood.
Birch
Medium-density hardwood with colors ranging from creamy yellow to deep reddish-brown. Displays straight, wavy, or curly grain with mineral streaks. These contrasts may appear more distinct after staining.
Finish Notes
Painted Finishes
Painted wood may develop hairline cracks at joints—especially on mitered corners—due to wood expansion. This is normal and not covered under warranty. MDF panels are used in some painted door styles for added stability. Painted finishes may show fingerprints, smudges, and marks more easily and may require occasional touch-ups.
Glazed Finishes
Each glazed cabinet is hand-finished, creating slight variations from one piece to the next. “Hang-up” areas where glaze collects will show more contrast, especially with light base colors. These finish characteristics are considered part of the product’s charm—not defects.
This warranty does not cover:
• Damage from misuse, neglect, improper installation, or modification
• Water damage from plumbing leaks, flooding, or excessive moisture
• Surface wear and tear (e.g., scratches, chips, staining from normal use)
• Cabinets used in commercial or rental properties (unless otherwise stated)
• Damage from unauthorized cleaners or harsh chemicals
• Environmental exposure (humidity, heat, sunlight, pests)
